Border Patrol agents were first called to the area just east of East San Ysidro Boulevard and Rail Court, at around 3:30 p.m., according to Supervisory Agent Jeff Stephenson.
An agent went to the culvert, which was blocked by trash and debris, and heard people calling for help from inside, Stephenson said. The agent opened the grate and water began rushing out along with two men, USBP said.
Multiple agencies, including San Diego Fire-Rescue, worked to search the interior of the culvert for others in need of rescue. In all, 10 migrants from Mexico were discovered, two of which were unresponsive, according to Border Patrol.

Clouds will gradually increase this evening and winds will begin to relax out of the north at 5 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the low 30s.
On Friday, skies will be mostly sunny and winds will shift to the south at 5-15 mph allowing temperatures to quickly moderate from today’s cold front. Highs will top out in the mid-to-upper 50s.

A string of cracks and pops sent people in the store into a frenzy. Some found places to hide and others dashed for the exits. Many of them called 911 thinking they had heard a series of gunshots.
As law enforcement teams swept the store department by department, they found several groups in hiding. They found no shooter or evidence of gunfire, but they did find spent fireworks in a trashcan and throughout a store isle.

Court documents obtained by NBC7 indicate Fierro s fiancée was afraid of Alvarez. In January 2020 she was granted a temporary protection order against him. In the restraining order request, she reported to police, Alvarez cyberstalked her social media accounts and tried to break into her home after she changed the locks and installed security cameras. Alvarez disputed the claims, and the judge ultimately did not extend the restraining order past Jan. 22, 2020, saying there wasn t enough evidence indicating that Alvarez violated any rules.
The variant has now been identified in at least 33 states. Over 500 cases have been reported and nearly 20% of those cases are in San Diego.
“There s an indication that it is 30% to 70% more transmissible than previous strains and it can potentially be 30% more lethal than previous strains, said Martin.
The good news is the vaccine appears to remain effective so far. But it appears the U.K. variant has mutated once again.
“Their variants also acquired a mutation called E484K which is also present in the South African and Brazilian variants and could potentially be contributing to the vaccine not being as effective on those variants,” said Martin.
